Objectives

List the objectives you need to achieve. Ensure that progress is measurable against the objectives by using indicators (milestones). Sometimes the objectives can appear too far apart and it may be appropriate to break the indicators down even further so that better monitoring can be performed.

Purpose

Expand on the vision statement to explain what the project is going to do, how long it will take and how much it will cost. This statement should reflect the relative importance most appropriate. Time, cost and performance are the importance values here. Each of these drivers will have an effect on the other.

Priorities and Targets

It is important to identify which targets and objectives are more significant than others. List all objectives and score them in order of priority. Identify current and target ideals for each objective. Always be prepared to drop any objective with a low priority. Well defined and appropriate targets will enthuse and motivate team members which, in turn will encourage team morale.

Research Standards

Benchmark your project against similar projects that have been carried out previously or against known industry standards
